About Me

Michael is a pianist , composer and teacher.
He was raised in Athens and under the influence and motivation of his father towards music he started his first lessons with Mairi Papanikolaou. Very soon he realized that he has a great inclination to learn the piano and within a year in 1993 he just passed the qualifying exams at the National Conservatory of Greece where he started to study in the class of the higher piano school with Aliki Tsitsopoulou.
At the National conservatory of Greece he studied piano and music theory – harmony where he successfully completed in 2000 his Degree in piano with excellent performance. During his studies he gave several piano recitals and started to compose his own piano works. Michael has attended postgraduate piano seminars with world-renowned pianists, Ivo Pogorelich, Duo Ganev, Elena Mouzala and others. He had the privilege of receiving years of guidance and attending master classes with the renowned pianist Georgios Filadelfeas, an esteemed competition winner (2nd Prize Grand Prix Maria Kallas 2000)
Between 1997 and 1999 he studied Tourism management in public vocational training institute of Piraeus and during 2002 -2019 he worked in various departments of the company Wind Hellas telecommunications. At the time he was working as a piano teacher gaining precious experience and strictly practicing piano to maintain his technique at a high level and expand his horizons regarding music composition.
In 2019 he started to work exclusively as a piano teacher with live private lessons and by giving online lessons that are conducted using modern audio-visual media tools so that the students can experience an advanced learning process, just like in live courses. Michael uses modern & flexible methods, emphasizing the transmission of the love of music, turning the lesson into play & creativity for children, relaxation and spiritual upliftment for adults. In addition to teaching classical piano, he encourages & technically guides his students of all ages so that they can develop autonomy and be able to play a piece they like without the need to use sheet music, or even compose their own music.
Moreover, he undertakes preparation for all piano grades at LCM (London College of Music, the UK’s largest specialist music and performing arts institution with over 130 years of operation)
Michael graduated from the university of Derby with an MBA in 2022.
In 2024 Michael recorded his piano works at Megaron the Athens Music Hall which are released on all global music platforms (Spotify, Apple Music, You Tube Music, Tidal and others). The name of the album is “Sounds like a movie”. The album has music that is cinematic and can be the soundtrack or a music theme of a film or a theatrical production. During the same year he gave a piano recital at Assea Festival in Tripoli city where he performed Classical pieces and his piano works. On May 24, 2024 I gave a piano recital featuring my own compositions at the library of the Athens Megaron, during the event for the presentation of the new book by author Ms. Vanessa Lampropoulou.
